Frequently Asked Questions Frequently Asked Questions

1)  CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT EVEREST?
Founded in 1991, Everest is an independent, Catholic school located on a beautiful 90-acre campus in Clarkston, Michigan. Everest understands that God made each person unique with their own set of talents and gifts. Small class sizes allow our highly qualified faculty to work with each student individually to ensure they are achieving their full personal potential. Everest students receive the academic advantages of single gender instruction while still having co-ed social opportunities. Everest also hosts international students from grades 6-12 which provides students with a multi-cultural learning experience.

2)  HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR METHOD OF EDUCATION?
The hallmark of an Everest education is Integral Formation, which forms all aspects of a child: their intellect, their spirit, and their character. This proven method fosters extraordinary students, bringing out the best in each one with an uncommon formation that produces well-rounded students of character, intelligence, and virtue. Give your EXTRAORDINARY child an UNCOMMON education.

3) WHERE IS EVEREST LOCATED?
Everest is only a mile off the Sashabaw Road exit off Interstate 75 and ½ mile from DTE Music Theatre. We also have school buses for the purpose of transporting students from outside our immediate area.

4)  IS YOUR SCHOOL ACCREDITED?
Everest is currently accredited by The Michigan Non-Public School Accrediting Association (MNSAA). In addition to being accredited by MNSAA we use the ongoing services of a national curriculum consulting firm, National Consultants for Education (NCE).

5)  WHAT KINDS OF ATHLETIC PROGRAMS ARE AVAILABLE?
Everest offers intramural sports for students in Kindergarten through fourth grade.  We participate in Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) sports for students in grades 5 through 8.  At the high school level we offer MSHAA sports, as an independent Everest team or in partnership with a neighboring Catholic high school. At Everest, every student can participate on a school team.

6)  DO YOU HAVE ACTIVITIES FOR ENTIRE FAMILY?
The Everest family is the school’s greatest treasures. The Fall Bon Fire, Breakfast with Saint Nicholas, Christmas Pageant, Lenten Fish Frys, Annual Talent Show and End of the Year Picnic are just a few of the family events Everest offers.

7)  WHAT ARE THE STUDENT DEMOGRAPHICS?
Our students come from a variety of social, economic and ethnic backgrounds.  Although our school is by large Roman Catholic, we do draw non-Catholic families who value our balanced, solid approach to faith education.

8) DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS, SCHOLARSHIPS OR TUITION ASSISTANCE?
Everest recognizes that a private education is a significant investment for families. Accordingly, the school offers a tuition assistance program intended to help families who demonstrate financial need. In this year alone, our program has given more than $325,000 in tuition assistance to Everest families.  We also have a multitude of high school scholarship opportunities all students can apply for.

9) IS EVEREST A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR MY CHILD?
Absolutely! Every Everest employee must complete the Protecting God’s Children program, which is a series of classes that educates faculty members on how to provide a child-safe environment. Also, our students have personal contact with the dean of students, chaplain, teachers and all those who have a hand in their education. These administrators get to know each student as an individual so they can prevent unsafe behavior such as bullying and other issues students face today.

10)  WHAT IS MY NEXT STEP?
Call our Director of Admissions, Maura Plante at 248-241-9012 to schedule a tour. Nothing explains the Everest advantage better than our students.
